Originally from Hickory, NC, I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, in 1997 with a BS in Business. I spent the next 20 years working in the telecommunications industry in a variety of roles including sales, project management, and program management. I understand the demands of balancing career and family as well as other important aspects of life including health, friendships, faith, and service.
In 2019, I made a major life decision to take a voluntary severance package from my employer so that I could pursue a second career in mental health counseling. I finished my Masters in Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling from UNC-Chapel Hill, and work as a mental health therapist at Triangle Wellness & Recovery. My research focused on the impact of lifestyle changes (sleep, diet, and physical activity) on mental health. I received my health coaching certification from Duke Integrative Medicine in August of 2020 and look forward to combining both coaching and counseling in my career.
Since my early days of playing sports in school, physical activity and exercise have been an integral part of my life. I ran 2 marathons and several half-marathons in my 20's, and now enjoy a variety of activities including running, hiking, yoga, swimming, interval training, and HIIT. I have learned how to exercise "smarter" not "harder" and still get results. I am passionate about the functional medicine approach and believe that food and exercise are medicine (supporting both physical and mental health).
I am a recovering perfectionist, people-pleaser, emotional eater, and workaholic. Residing in Holly Springs, NC, I am a wife, a boy mom to a 19-year-old son, and a dog mom to 2 dogs, Rodger and Dixie. Besides staying active, I enjoy reading, gardening, and volunteering in the special needs ministry at church.
I am dedicated to helping people be healthy so they can live a meaningful life. I look forward to working with you!
